Patio Language School started with a simple idea: the best way to learn Portuguese is the way you'd naturally pick up any language — through people, place, and conversation.
A patio is where things actually happen — where neighbors talk, coffee gets poured, and stories get told. That's the model for how we teach: less lecture, more conversation. Lessons happen over coffee, on walks through Lagos, and in small groups where everyone's expected to actually talk.
We work with adults — expats settling into life in the Algarve, part-time residents who want more than tourist Portuguese, and anyone who wants to engage with Portugal on its own terms. Alongside private and group lessons, we run cultural workshops, city outings, and talks that put vocabulary into context: the market, the café, the history behind the tiles on the wall.
